Are DocOnCall doctors IMC registered?

Yes. All doctors on DocOnCall.ie are fully qualified and registered with the Irish Medical Council (IMC), ensuring you receive professional, certified medical care.

Can I get a sick cert online in Ireland?

Yes. DocOnCall doctors can issue official electronic sick certificates during or after your online consultation. The cert is delivered digitally. Note: this is an electronic sick leave and is not submittable to the Department of Social Protection.

What is the difference between a video and audio consultation?

A video consultation allows you to see and speak with your doctor face to face via screen. An audio consultation is a voice call only. Both are conducted through DocOnCall's secure patient portal and are equally valid for issuing scripts and certificates.

How many paid sick days am I entitled to in Ireland in 2025?

Under the Sick Leave Act 2022, employees in Ireland are entitled to 5 days of paid statutory sick leave per calendar year in 2025, provided they have at least 13 weeks of continuous service with their employer. Statutory sick pay is 70% of normal daily wages, capped at €110 per day.

Do I qualify for DSP Illness Benefit in Ireland?

To qualify for Illness Benefit from the Department of Social Protection (DSP), you must be medically certified as unfit for work, be under 66, have at least 104 PRSI contributions paid since starting work, and meet specific annual PRSI conditions. Self-employed Class S contributors do not qualify for Illness Benefit. The payment is not made for the first 3 waiting days of illness.

Can a DocOnCall cert be used for DSP Illness Benefit?

No. DocOnCall.ie electronic sick certs are accepted by employers for statutory sick leave purposes under the Sick Leave Act 2022. However, DSP Illness Benefit requires a paper Certificate of Incapacity for Work signed by your GP, or an electronic certificate submitted directly by your doctor to DSP. A DocOnCall cert cannot be used to claim DSP Illness Benefit.
